Bayham Old Abbey

Fr Stephen Morrison will be celebrating Mass at Bayham Old Abbey TN3 8LJ for the Feast of Saint Norbert (old calendar). This will be the first time a Norbertine Mass has been celebrated at the site since the Reformation.

We are using this as another Chant opportunity, suitable for experienced and non-experienced singers alike, led by one of our Associate Directors Matthew Ward.

Timetable for 11 July at Bayham Old Abbey:

Singers arrive 10:45 am

First rehearsal 11 am - 12 pm

Lunch 12 pm - 1 pm

Second rehearsal 1 pm - 2 pm

Historical context 2 pm

Mass 3 pm

Music is not in the Liber Usualis, so a course booklet will be provided (including, we hope, an extract from a 12th century Norbertine manuscript!).

We need to bring our own lunch and refreshments (unless it transpires later that refreshments are being provided).

Because of generous support from the Latin Mass Society and English Heritage, attendance is free, but donations are welcome in order to cover costs.

In order to print off the correct number of course booklets, applications must be made by 4th July at the latest via info@scholagregoriana.org
